  • 20-month paid Fellowship
  • During your first 8 months (from August 1, 2018 to May 1, 2019), you will work in a paralegal capacity at Pabian Law, a national law firm with its headquarters in Framingham, Massachusetts in our internationally-renowned hospitality immigration practice area
  • From May 1, 2019 to August 1, 2019, you will be paid to change the world!

Pabian Law is looking for an Associate Attorney to join our great team!

We have an immediate opening for an Associate Attorney.  Pabian Law seeks to hire this individual primarily (but not exclusively) to assist with the firm’s quickly growing hospitality immigration group, managing a group of five to six paralegals and directly reporting to the Attorney that currently manages the group.  The Associate Attorney will draft, review, and revise legal letters, letters of support, legal memoranda, and immigration forms.  Will troubleshoot and have direct contact with clients on procedures and strategy.  Will provide the highest-level of customer service to clients and ensure client satisfaction at all times.  Will assist on special projects as needed. Strong leadership skills, attention to detail and confidence is essential to the success of this individual.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from accredited U.S. law school and bar admission required
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in both undergraduate and graduate studies
  • 1-2 years of legal experience is required
  • Management experience, even outside of the legal field, is preferred

Pabian Law is looking for an H-2B Practice Assistant Manager to join our great team!

Pabian Law’s national H-2B seasonal visa practice is looking to add an H-2B Practice Assistant Manager to assist in the management of its thriving, nationally-renowned practice.  This person, under the supervision and direction of the Practice Area Manager, will manage a team of Paralegals and Operations Staff in the successful process and completion of H-2B seasonal visa petitions.  Daily tasks will be reviewing legal documents, reviewing client processes, client communications, and answering paralegals’ and Operations team members’ questions.

Job Duties:

  • Manage a team of 4-8 Paralegals and Operations staff
  • Supervise the preparation of cover letters, seasonality arguments, and other documentation for H-2B seasonal visa petitions;
  • Coordinate with attorneys, Practice Area Managers, other immigration paralegals, and the Operations team to ensure that work is completed prior to deadlines assigned by the manager;
  • Closely monitor all internal and external deadlines within the practice area;
  • Assist Practice Area Manager in managing the work flow and work product of Paralegals and Junior Paralegals as well as reviewing work product and providing edits and feedback to the Paralegals and Junior Paralegals;
  • Act as a liaison between the practice area and the Operations team, communicating with the team members with regards to work flow;
  • Review supporting documents provided by clients and ensure that they contain the required information, make edits where necessary;
  • Correspond with clients regarding case status and non-legal questions involving their cases (ex: what additional documents are needed/case status/etc.);
  • Maintain an overall knowledge of Pabian Law’s protocols, best practices, and types of clients/cases; and
  • Identify and suggest process improvements on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two (2) years of direct experience with H-2B visa petitions, either within an organization or in preparing petitions

The Executive Assistant is responsible for administratively supporting the Managing Partner, managing his schedule and appointments, and completing projects as assigned.

Job Duties:

  • Manage the Managing Partner’s appointment and travel schedule
  • Filter emails and sort by importance, alerting the Managing Partner with regards to time sensitive matters
  • Closely monitor the Managing Partner’s calendar, flag any conflicts and resolve conflicts
  • Ensure that the Managing Partner is fully prepared for client meetings
  • Act as a liaison between the Managing Partner and the Legal and Operations teams, prioritizing work flow
  • Complete projects as assigned
  • Maintain an overall knowledge of Pabian Law’s protocols, best practices, and types of clients/cases

Pabian Law is looking for a Junior Paralegal to join our great team!

The Junior Paralegal is responsible for completing assignments as assigned by attorneys and paralegals.  This involves drafting attorney cover letters, exhibit lists, and other supporting documentation and using templates to draft visa, green card, citizenship, and other immigration petition forms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with attorneys, other immigration paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure that work is completed prior to deadlines assigned by attorney
  • Continually monitor all assigned cases for “red flags” (missing, inaccurate or incomplete documentation, etc.) and report them to attorney
  • Maintain an accurate status list of all open matters and continually take action to move them forward
  • Review supporting documents provided by clients and ensure that they contain the required information
  • Discuss deficiencies in supporting documentation provided by clients with attorney
  • Edit documents provided by client (to be reviewed and approved by attorney)
  • Use templates and outlines to draft Request for Evidence responses
  • Draft process checklists, questionnaires, and best practice guides
  • Timely follow-up with clients to ensure that cases move forward and deadlines are met
  • Ensure that cases are receipted in immigration software program and continue to update software throughout life of case from initiation to approval
  • Correspond with clients regarding case status and non-legal questions involving their cases (ex: what additional documents are needed/case status/etc.)
  • Understand the workflows used by Pabian Law and, when necessary, suggest changes in workflows that result in increased efficiency
  • Maintain an overall knowledge of Pabian Law’s protocols, best practices, and types of clients/cases
  • Daily copying and scanning
  • Maintain a client status list
